Authentication of the true nature of a signature by an official authority certifying the origin of a document (official character: capacity of the signer and identity of the stamp on the document).

2 ways for authentication:

  • Signatories of the “Apostille Convention” (Hague Apostille Convention of 1961), a Court attestation (apostille is sufficient for the legal instances in all States that have committed to this International Convention.
  • No signatories, a much longer process, (court seal, seal from the Ministries of Justice and of Foreign Affairs, and from the relevant Embassy).

USA: Sworn translation stamped at the district court in order to declare the translation legal.
